The In2Eat Philosophy: Intuitive Eating for a Healthier Relationship with Food
At In2Eat, we believe in the power of intuitive eating—a weight-neutral approach to nutrition that encourages listening to your body’s natural cues to determine when, what, and how much to eat. Grounded in interoceptive awareness, intuitive eating helps individuals build a healthy relationship with food, free from guilt or restriction. Developed by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995, the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating form the core of our approach. These principles foster self-care, compassion, and body diversity, while promoting healthy, mindful eating habits. By rejecting the traditional diet culture that often leads to unhealthy eating patterns, intuitive eating empowers individuals to make food choices based on what their bodies truly need—rather than external pressures or rigid rules. In2Eat aims to make this philosophy accessible to everyone by providing personalized tools to improve diet quality, guide food choices, and offer nutritional analysis. We are committed to helping you nourish your body and mind with high-quality foods that support your overall well-being.
The Team Behind In2Eat
The development of the In2Eat app is a product of interdisciplinary collaboration between experts in computer science, health science, and nutrition. This project is part of the Interdisciplinary Project Seed Grants initiative at Seaver College, which supports creative and impactful solutions to societal challenges.

Dr. Mandy Korpusik
Principal Investigator (PI)
Mandy Korpusik is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Loyola Marymount University. She holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Olin College, an S.M. in Computer Science from MIT, and a Ph.D. from MIT. Her research focuses on natural language processing and dialogue systems. She developed the Coco Nutritionist app for iOS, helping obesity patients track food intake through speech. Her long-term goal is to create AI-based agents to improve health and productivity
Dr. Hawley Almstedt
Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI)
Hawley Almstedt is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and has been teaching and researching at Loyola Marymount University for 20 years. Her research focuses on diet and exercise's impact on skeletal health and osteoporosis risk. Dr. Almstedt incorporates intuitive eating principles into her nutrition and health teachings. She holds a Master’s in kinesiology from San Jose State University and a Ph.D. in exercise science from Oregon State University. At LMU, she teaches courses on nutrition, food insecurity, health equity, and exercise science.
Dr. Delaram Yazdansepas
Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI)
Delaram Yazdansepas is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Loyola Marymount University, with a background in Health Informatics. Her work in health applications and wearable technologies contributes to the In2Eat app’s functionality, ensuring that it is both user-friendly and data-driven, offering real-time insights and personalized recommendations.

Our Motivation
The In2Eat app was born from a shared desire to make health and nutrition accessible to everyone—without the constraints of restrictive dieting. We saw the need for an innovative tool that not only teaches the principles of intuitive eating but also empowers users to make better food choices in their daily lives.
